You can change the battery for the GBA games pretty easily, thankfully. I had to do this for my Pokémon Emerald cartridge that I had as a kid. If you are scared of doing it, find someone running a non-chain electronic repair shop. They are the best. Do not bring old electronics to chain stores like iFixit and Fruit Fixer. They know little to nothing about non-modern electronics. So, buy the battery (which can look up and have shipped to you as they are very cheap) and then bring it to an independent electronic repair shop. If you are thinking about some place like Best Buy, don't. Geek Squad is pretty much useless unless dealing with modern stuff and there may be some nonsensical reason as to why they cannot help you (e.g., must be approved by Apple or something).

Man, I remember Mirage Island. At the time I played Pokemon Emerald, I really wasn't using the internet a whole bunch cept for like... MySpace n stuff. I remember hearing from a friend about the old man in Pacifidlog. He basically told me "hey, if you check with that guy every day.... there's a chance....." He did not outright say it, but he also insinuated that there were some rare pokemon on the island. To be honest, looking back, it really did feel like one of those old school playground rumors of "hey if you do this X number of times, Mew appears!" or some such. Anyways, I was rather casual about checking in with the old man at Pacifidlog. I did not play Emerald every day, but whenever I did, I always checked in. I think that, from the time I learned about the island's existence to me giving up on ever getting to it was.... maybe two months? It was rather anticlimactic but I remember one time I just went online and read up about the way the island works and the ridiculously low chance of getting it to pop. Reading about how there was just... a rare berry on there, was also pretty deflating. I pretty much gave up on it. Still, I look back on this rather fondly cause of the aforementioned feeling of there being some secret or another just around the corner. All that said.... I really do wish the devs had made its spawn condition much more BEARABLE lol... as well as have something a bit more desirable on it.

I remember one time I was checking my Poke Pelago while in school and noticed there was a Trevenant visiting, I click to check it. 👏 IT'S SHINY 👏 I remember my heart dropping as I stared at the screen because I knew it wasn't guaranteed to stay. So. I spent any chance I got to check on it. Constantly giving as much attention to it as I possibly could and just praying to see a heart over it's head. Eventually while on the bus going home I checked it again and jumped for joy when I saw a little heart over his head. I ended up naming him Beans because I was a child and was just super have to have even gotten a shiny at all. 😆

up until now I've always assumed that the pokepuff flavors were strawberry and/or cherry, matcha, orange, chocolate/ vanilla (like the pudding cups), and straight chocolate. now that I know the official flavors something in me feels deeply disturbed that the the green one is mint rather than any other flavor considering there are other shades of green literally called "mint green" yet they chose to use a shade that (at least in my experience) better conveys matcha flavor (green apple and lime would also be applicable although the wafer roll in the deluxe version led me away from fruit flavors and considering there's already "citrus" and what I once thought was a cherry/berry flavor then having a third fruit flavor seemed redundant, not to mention that these and many other green fruits tend to be reserved for candy and such rather than what seems to me comparable to cakes.) I'm also bothered by the "mocha" and "spice" flavor although if nothing else the names can just be swapped over the two and my brain will be satisfied. I don't have a way to end this train of thought so thanks for listening to the ramblings of a mad man lmao

I have encountered mirage island by chance in emerald but I beat that game to a pulp as a kid battle frontier forever my greatest achievement I'm that game was obtaining a dragon scale in game and getting a kingdra in emerald. You have to thief bagon in metor falls I spent months when I finally got a dragon scale I practically shit my pants

I'm from the UK and I'm pretty sure we didn't get these special events either. We just got the Pokémon downloaded into the game. For years I assumed that Arceus just wasn't available in Gen 4, or nor till long post-release. Why does it matter so much that you get the event as well?

32:00 My assumption is that you get a half point reduction for having max friend ship, and a one point reduction for having high friendship (something like >170 or 200), so with one max friendship you get 1 point off the smoothness, but with 2 you get 3. that seems to track with 6 max max friendships giving you 9 points reduced. Unfortunately I can't test it as my game is unaccessable for the forseeable future.

I just completed the National Pokédex in Generation 6 again recently and can confirm for Regigigas you don’t need to talk to the girl in Pacifidlog Town. Just catch the 3 Regis, nickname and give Regice a Castelia Cone/NeverMeltIce/Snowball, wait a day (I think you just have to wait until the *next* day not exactly 24 hours but I’m not 100% sure) and then go back to Island Cave during the day.
